The administration of Chittagong University (CU) has released a picture of Shaheed Minar under the banner of Victory Day. There is widespread criticism about this through social networks. Senior university professors also see it as inconsistent.
Today, on the occasion of the Great Victory Day at 10 am, the Vice Chancellor of Chittagong University, Professor Dr. Independence Memorial sculpture. Shirin Akhtar paid tribute to the martyrs by laying a wreath. Later, a wreath was placed on the portrait of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
But an image of the Shaheed Minar was seen on the banner of the discussion meeting held at the time. What has started a wide discussion and criticism. Teachers and students of the university assure that although the Shaheed Minar is part of the conscience of Bangladesh, its image is inappropriate in the meeting organized on the occasion of the Great Victory Day. Because its context is different. However, university authorities have admitted this inadvertent error.
The top teachers said, I work absolutely incompetent. Includes anti-conscience work of the great liberation war. The celebration of Victory Day has provoked laughter and embarrassing incidents. These incidents are unprecedented in the last 50 years under any Victory Day banner.
According to university sources, Jahangir Alam, undersecretary of the rectory, was in charge of making the banner. He said, I made this banner in the previous series. Banners with images of Shaheed Minar have been made before. We have received complaints about this, we hope it does not happen again in the future.
Acting University Proctor. Atiqur Rahman said: “We were not shown when the banner was made, so this mistake was made unintentionally.”
