Following the order of the High Court, the marriage of the tortured girl with the accused in the rape case was completed in Feni Prison. The marriage was solemnized on Thursday (November 19) at noon in the presence of the bride and groom.
Early in the morning, lawyers along with relatives of both parties appeared at the jail door with candy. Later, the Deputy Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of the Feni Moniruzzaman District Administration and Kazi Abdur Rahim arrived to complete the main wedding arrangement.
The girl entered Shahadat Hossain’s office of the district jail at noon. The prisoner Zahirul Haque Zia was already present in the room. At this time, the marriage ceremony was completed with a seal of six lakh rupees and one lakh ushul. At this moment, the members of the two families sweetly embraced. Maulana Akhter Hossain taught marriage in a religious way. The marriage was registered by the marriage registrar Abdur Rahim.
The superintendent of the district jail, Anwarul Karim, told the Bengali Tribune that the marriage of the tortured girl with the imprisoned Zahirul Haque Zia was consummated in the presence of both families with the consent of both families following the order of the High Court. In the judicial seal the consent seal of both families has been taken. All information, including the double booth, will be forwarded to the Superior Court as instructed by the court.
After the marriage, the bride expressed her satisfaction with the High Court order and told the Bengali Tribune: “We are poor, I have justice by court order.” My rights have been established. I wish everyone’s cooperation to build a beautiful family life. She wanted her husband released at that time.
The father of the bride and the father of the groom said that the marriage of the son and daughter has been completed by court order. They both want to be happy in their marriage.
Ziauddin, son of Abu Sufian, a local UP member from Chardarbesh village in southwestern Sonagazi upazila, fell in love with a teenager from the same area. At one point they establish a physical relationship with the promise of marriage. When a rape case was filed at the Sonagazi Police Station on May 26 this year, the police arrested Zia Uddin and sent him to jail. After the investigation proved the rape charge, the police filed a charge sheet in court on June 30. Although the plaintiff and the defendant agreed to the marriage amicably, it did not happen for a variety of reasons.
High Court lawyer Farooq Alamgir said: “If Zia Uddin’s family seeks refuge in the lower court, I will file a case in the High Court to ask for bail.” During the bail hearing in the court of justice M Enayetur Rahim and Judge Mostafizur Rahman on November 1, said that it was advisable to give us reparation without violating the case. “Following this statement, the court ordered my client to post a bond on condition of marriage,” he said.
