Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona applied for a visa to come to the United States in 2016. But Maradona was not granted an American visa at the time for speaking “disrespectfully” to Trump in a visa application interview. Maradona’s attorney, Matthias Morla, said Maradona did not get a US visa for calling Trump a “puppet.”

Maradona wanted to go to Miami, USA to take care of his ex-wife’s case.

Maradona had a question in the visa application interview, ‘What do you think of Donald Trump?’ In response, Maradona said that he considered Trump a “chirolita” (puppet). “Chirolita” is a regional word in Argentina. It is used trivially.

Earlier, Maradona said on a Russian RT television show that Trump looked like a cartoon to him. Whenever he sees Trump on television, he changes the channel.

Maradona was an outspoken critic of US imperialism. He was a staunch supporter of the left movement in Latin America. The legend was a follower of the Venezuelan revolutionary leader Hugo Chávez.
