Blood samples were collected for DNA testing from six defendants in the gang rape case of a housewife in the dormitory of Sylhet MC College. They were taken to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital under police surveillance at 12:30 pm Thursday. Those whose blood samples have been collected are Saifur Rahman, Shah Mahbubur Rahman Rony, Tareq Ahmed, Arjun Laskar, Rabiul Islam, and Mahfuzur Rahman. In addition to these six defendants, Ainuddin and two others have been in preventive detention for five days.

Sylhet Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Media) Jyotirmoy Sarkar said police took the six defendants to Sylhet Osmani Medical College for a DNA test. After collecting blood samples, they were returned to police custody. By the way, although all educational institutions in the country were declared closed due to Corona, the dormitory at Sylhet MC College was forcibly kept open by identified terrorists from the Chhatra League. On the night of Friday, September 25, a young housewife with her husband drove down to the front door of MC College in her own car. At that time, six cadres from the Chhatra League took them hostage and brought them to the bedroom. After beating her there, he tied up her husband and raped her. Police rescued the couple from the bedroom around 10:30 pm. Later, the raped girl was admitted to the OCC Center of the Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital. A case has been brought against six people at Shahparan Police Station in connection with gang rape.

In the same case, three more unidentified persons have been charged. All of the accused are leaders and activists of the Chhatra League. The police have arrested all the accused. Many young women have been victims of the Saifur cycle: Meanwhile, after the incident of the gang rape of a young housewife by the BCL pictures in the dormitory of MC College, the story of more misdeeds of the criminals is coming out to the light. Countless young women have been raped by them in the last decade or so. Their gold ornaments, mobile phones and money were taken away. No one dared to open their mouths for so long for fear of respect and life.

Being associated with the ruling party, they continued their antics and lasciviousness freely. But after the arrest of all those guilty of the gang rape incident last Friday, the story of their most misdeeds is now on the lips of the people of Sylhet. Under the patronage of which this gang of rapists was so advanced in their antics, they are now silent, but after a time they will be active in protecting rapists; many are concerned. That is why there is a demand from all sectors to arrest the godparents of rapists and punish them severely. According to various sources, the location of MC College is huge. There is a temple hill at the rear of the university. According to various sources, those who visited the MC College campus went to this once secluded hill.

And when he went there, he was in danger. Members of the group, led by Saifur of the Chhatra League, used to sit on the temple hill and hang out, drinking yaba. And if someone went, they would be ‘blackmailed’. If they were lovers, the ransom would be collected by taking pictures of them. When the husband and wife left, sometimes the husband was tied up and the wife gang-raped. Such incidents happen every day on that hill. But nobody got any remedy. Respect, money, and gold ornaments were to be returned empty-handed. One afternoon recently, a young man from Jagannathpur sat with his sister Talto behind the MC College bungalow. At that time the Saifur Chakra members obtain them. At one point, they took pictures of the young men, alleging antisocial activities. Then he tied up the boy and gang-raped the girl. He also wants money from the young woman. Not only this, many of those incidents have taken place within MC College itself, locals told the media.

Michael, an MC College guard, was gang-raped on campus for allegedly raping a young woman. The locals were outraged and massacred him. Michael used to work for the Saifur-Rony Syndicate. Michael would inform the union every time someone went to campus. Saifur, Rony and Rabiul used to hang out at the slanted place of the temple. According to the locals, they would go out in the afternoon. I used to go there. Every day the young people go for a walk on the temple hill. And they aim them. Many young women who lost their dignity were left without justice. There has never been a rape case in the MC College shelter area before. But students living in shelters have said that these incidents have been going on for the past year. They said that at night the ordinary students of the hostel did not leave the room without much need; But most of the time, Saifur-Roni used to get into private cars and CNG self-propellers with women. They were going to the professor’s bungalow.

Seeing these incidents, no one dared to protest. Super did not stay at the hostel. As a result, they controlled the shelter. The Alurtal area is next to MC College. The Agricultural University and the College of Engineering are in the same area. In the afternoon, many tourists go there with their wives and girlfriends. Whenever they went to a remote and secluded hill, a gang in the area blackmailed and raped them in the same way. Many of these incidents are now on the lips of the locals. Nitai Chandra Chand was the director of the university before the current director, Prof. Saleh Uddin Ahmed, took over. Saifur-Shah Rony and Rabiul Chakra demanded exemption from the salaries and food bills of some students living in the hostel.

When they refused, they trashed the director’s room. Even after the current director took office, they are influential in many ways. For this reason, the director himself admitted that he was defenseless. There was a lack of security: The security of Murari Chand (MC) College is not adequate in terms of size. The inadequate boundary wall and lack of lighting at the 144-acre MC College has also hampered safety. Shahidul Khabir Chowdhury, director (university and administration) of the secondary and higher education directorate, said at a press conference before leaving Sylhet on Wednesday night. A three-member investigation committee from the Ministry of Education formed in connection with the gang rape in the MC College dormitory arrived in Sylhet on Tuesday.

In addition to visiting the Sylhet scene for two days, they spoke with the university principal, teachers, police, the general public, the victim, and her husband. They returned to Dhaka on Wednesday night. They were supposed to present their preliminary report to the ministry yesterday. The final report will be published in a week. Shahidul Khabir Chowdhury said that gang rape is a reprehensible incident in such educational institutions. Since we are involved in education, we are taking the matter seriously. The ministry has asked us to submit a preliminary report within three days and a final report within seven days. We have talked to many people, including the MC College administration, we have visited the scene. He said that the subject was sensitive, so it was not easy to talk to the abused woman. However, we tried to talk. It had to be done in the interest of the investigation.

The university administration is known to have come under severe criticism for keeping the dormitory open despite the closure of MC College since the Corona infection. Faced with this situation, the investigation committee was formed by the Ministry of Education.
