The Manikganj District BCL leader and his two associates have been arrested with heroin by the Golra Highway Police. A case was filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act at Dhaka’s Dhamrai Police Station on Wednesday night.
The three are BCL District Vice President Shamim Hossain and his two associates, Rabiul Awal and Alamgir Hossain. Their homes are in different villages of Saturia upazila in Manikganj.
According to sources from the Golra Highway Police Station in Manikganj, on the basis of secret information, the police arrested three people, including BCL leader Shamim, along with a motorcycle on the Dhaka-Aricha road in the Balitha area. from Dhamrai upazila on Wednesday afternoon. At this time their bodies were searched. Five grams of heroin were found near Rabiul. They were then arrested and taken to the Golra Highway Police Station.
Golra Highway (OC) police officer in charge, Monirul Islam, said they were handed over to the Dhamrai police station on Wednesday night.
Dhamrai Police Officer-in-Charge (CO) Deepak Chandra Saha said a case was registered against the three under the Narcotics Control Act on Wednesday night. They were sent to the Dhaka Magistrates Court at noon.
When contacted, BCL district president Kazi Raju Ahmed said there would be no place for drug users or drug dealers in BCL. The president and secretary general of the central student league will be informed about the incident. If the allegations are found to be true, the organization will take organizational action against them.
