He said: “Our statement is against the sculpture, not against Bangabandhu in any way.”

The press conference was held at the Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis headquarters in Purna Paltan on Sunday afternoon. Mamunul is the acting secretary general of the organization and the central president of the Khilafah Youth Majlis of Bangladesh.

Commenting on the propaganda being spread about his statement, the Hifazat leader said: “As a Muslim leader, I fully respect the great leader and architect of independence Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and seek forgiveness from his soul.” I am never opposed in any way to such a late national leader and I do not consider it appropriate to do so. “

On November 13, a demonstration under the slogan “Touhidi Janata Oikya Parishad” was held at the Dhupkhola field in Gandaria, Dhaka, to oppose the installation of a sculpture by Bangabandhu on the occasion of the Mujib Year.

On the same day, Maulana Mamunul Haque, Acting Secretary General of Bangladesh Khilafat Jub Majlis and Central President of Bangladesh Khilafat Jub Majlis, also publicly opposed the installation of the Bangabandhu sculpture at the Shane Risalat Conference organized by Bangladesh Khilafat Jub Majlis Dhaka Metropolitan at the BMA Auditorium in the capital.

Mamunul was scheduled to address a meeting in Hathazari on Friday. But when the local Chhatra League and Juba League announced to resist him, the mahfil took place without him.

Amir Junaid Babungari from Hefazat-e-Islam, who was the main guest of the meeting, threatened that if either party installed the sculpture, it would be ‘swept away’.

At a press conference on Sunday, Mamunul said: “The peace-loving Touhidi people have been angry for some time over the issue of the construction of a Bangabandhu sculpture at Dholaipara in Dhaka. Scholars have protested against the non-Islamic culture of sculpting humans or animals from an Islamic point of view. In this context, I have also expressed my opposition to the construction of the sculpture.

“But a mahal is trying to call this opposition to the construction of the sculpture as the opposition of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. In this sense, I would like to say unequivocally that this mischievous attempt by the Mahal is intentional.

The Acting General Secretary of the Khilafah Majlis claimed that he or his party were not affiliated with any political alliance.

“Despite our clear political position, I see that a part of me is conspiring to bring Mamunul Haque face to face with the government.

And that is why Jamaat-e-Islami is trying to impose unfounded and imaginary accusations on me to implement the political agenda. I strongly condemn this conspiracy. “

Mamunul, son of Azizul Haque, chairman of Amir Islami Oikya Jot, the founder of Khilafah Majlis, said: “It seems that various conspiracies are being hatched against me. The administration is being incited against me for misinformation.”

Mamunul Haque also wanted the administration to intervene in the matter by accusing Azizul Haque and Pir Syed Fazlul Karim de Charmonai of “insulting and poisoning”.

He also demanded the release of the arrested madrassa students from a procession of his supporters in Dhaka’s Kakrail on Friday.

Explaining the party’s political position, Mamunul said: “My father is the late Shaykhul Hadith Allama Azizul Haque, a renowned hadith scholar from the subcontinent and a veteran national leader of Bangladesh, who was one of the four main leaders of the quadripartite alliance. . According to the five ideological points given by him, the Bangladesh Awami League signed a memorandum of understanding with the Khilafah Majlis of Bangladesh in 2008 ”.

Commenting that Azizul Haque has always represented the Deobandi sect in the Indian subcontinent, his son Mamunul said: “I am also a political activist of that sect.” We do not have any programs against the country, the state or the government through any conspiracy or collusion. “
