The clashes began on Wednesday night before the start of elections in two constituencies of Midnapore in the second phase in West Bengal.
As soon as the elections began on Thursday morning, news of political clashes started pouring in from different areas of West Midnapore.
Although the turnout at the end of the day was around 72.79 percent, the bloodshed and the confrontations did not affect the exercise of democratic rights. At noon, Mamata went to the scene, claiming that the BJP was sealing a booth at its Nandigram facility.
He complained that 80 percent of the booths have been taken. We will go to court against the BJP. As soon as the voting ended, Mamata claimed that she would win 90 percent of the vote in Nandigram.
The BJP candidate, Shuvendu Adhikari, replied: “The BJP will win by a greater margin than I thought.”
While sitting in a wheelchair in Nandigram, Mamata calls excitedly one after another, just as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is holding a public meeting in Jayanagar, in the neighboring district of South 24 Parganas.
At the meeting, Modi raised the issue of Nandigram, the “hot seat” of the Nilbari struggle. He said: ‘What Bengal wants has happened in Nandigram. Didi first left Bhabanipur and went to Nandigram. Later he realized that he had made a mistake. Highlighting Nandigram’s images and information, Prime Minister Modi said: ‘Look at Didi.
Only then will you understand everything. Didi is an opinion poll, Didi is an exit poll. Everything is clear in his eyes, face and center. ‘ Modi again stated that the strong wind of ‘real change’ blowing in Bengal was understood in the first phase. He also claimed that the BJP would win more than 200 seats.
“Didi, it is true that rumors are circulating that it can be played from another center,” Modi said, prompting speculation that Mamata would compete from another center in Uluberia. First he went there (Nandigram), the people there answered him. If you want to fight from another center, then Bengali is ready. ‘ However, the Trinamool Congress said in the evening that it was not about Mamata fights from any other center. Because he’s beating Nandigram.
To monitor the situation, Mamata left her temporary home in Reyapara at 1:15 pm Indian time to go to Boal Maktab Primary School’s booth number 6. When he got to Bayal, he entered the town in a wheelchair. Trinamool supporters and locals caught him on the street.
He claimed that the BJP had seized the booth. They will print freely. Trinamool agents were not allowed in. The central forces took no action to stop them.
After that, Mamata went straight to the booth. As soon as he got there, the tension increased. Upon seeing Mamata, BJP workers and supporters began chanting “Joy Sriram.”
Trinamool supporters also accepted it. Clashes broke out between the two sides. Aiming at each other, they started throwing bricks at random.
The state police and the RAF stepped forward to handle the situation. They separated the two fields. But since the situation outside the cabin was not calm, Mamata got stuck inside the cabin.
About two hours later, Mamata emerged from Boyal’s cabin. Central forces removed him from the cockpit under strict security measures. On leaving, he told the locals: ‘I am not worried about Nandigram. Worried about democracy. There have been cheating at the polls. When there was a storm in that Bayal cabin, Shuvendu Adhikari said, the game was over. 80 percent of the votes were cast in that booth. The voting ended since the morning. Mamata has nothing to do now. Later, sitting in the booth, Mamata complained to the media that 70 percent of the votes had been cast in that Boyal booth. Attempts are being made to create riots by bringing in foreigners at the urging of the Union Minister of the Interior, Amit Shah. Mamata said: ‘The thugs from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are coming and they are causing trouble. Those who are in trouble, nobody knows Bengali.
They all speak Hindi. Sitting in the booth, Mamata yelled at the BJP: ‘We will go to court. No action was taken. Voting is not allowed. I have received 83 complaints. He called Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and briefed him on the situation while sitting at Bayal’s booth. But Mamata Banerjee’s allegations were dismissed by BJP State Chairman Dilip Ghosh. He said: ‘The central forces are there to prevent unwanted people from entering the booth.
People will line up and vote. Where is the difficulty? Mamata is creating tension by realizing that she will lose. The Electoral Commission must be trusted. It is your responsibility to vote fairly. And his party will not be able to get 80 percent of the vote. They say it because they cannot cast their vote ”.
Nagendranath Tripathi, an IPS officer in charge of the Nandigram police station, came to the scene to handle the situation. Nagendranath spoke to supporters of the BJP and Trinamool, both parties. Supporters of both parties were asked to stand down. Only after controlling the situation did the process of removing the leader of Trinamool safely begin. Mamata spoke with officials from the Booth Election Commission. The Trinamool agent was not allowed to sit down and filed a written complaint with the officer in charge of the Nandigram Police Station alleging that voting had been obstructed.
A grassroots activist was reportedly beaten to death in Keshabpur on Wednesday night. Uttam Dalui, a Trinamool activist, was stabbed to death in the Harihar Chowk Booth area of Dadpur village in Keshabpur Block No. 4 around 11pm. BJP candidate Priti Ranjan Kumar and his election agent Tanmoy Ghosh were separately attacked in Keshabpur on Thursday morning. In addition to wrecking their cars, the media have also come under fire. District Police Superintendent Dinesh Kumar said 19 people were arrested in connection with the attack. Habibur Rahman, the election agent for Keshabpur Trinamool candidate Shiuli Saha, has been accused of killing and beheading him.
Trinamool has complained one after another about the Nandigram polls. Candidate Mamata also complained. On the other hand, Shuvendu Adhikari said that he has no complaints. He also stated that the vote was peaceful and free. Just as Shuvendu stated that he was confident of victory, Mamata also pointed to “Victoria” with both fingers and said: “Trinamool will get 90 percent of the votes in Nandigram.” I will win with the blessings of the country. ”
