Mahmudur Rahman Manna, the convenor of Citizens’ Unity, has been accused of attacking party leaders and activists.

A statement signed by the party’s central committee member, Kabir Hasan, claimed that activists from the BCL and the Juba League attacked Mahmudur Rahman Manna, a convener of the Citizens’ Unity Party, while on his way to a function in Rupganj in Narayanganj at 5pm on Monday. Ramda, rods, hockey sticks and other indigenous weapons were attacked.

Between 30 and 35 leaders and activists, including Shakib Anwar, a member of the Central Committee for Citizen Unity and Anisur Rahman Munna, a central member of the Youth Unit, were injured in the attack.

Other vehicles and motorcycles used by Mahmudur Rahman Manna were vandalized at the time. Unidad Ciudadana has called a protest in front of the National Press Club at 11 am on Tuesday.

When asked, Shakib Anwar, a member of the Central Committee for Citizen Unity, told Jugantar that the party’s convenor, Mahmudur Rahman, was on stage with a human shield. Even then, if he gets hit with Ramada, he goes to the banner. At this point Mahmudur Rahman Manna fell and injured himself.
