In the first match of the BCB President’s Cup ODI tournament, Mahmudullah XI threw a 198-run goal to Nazmul XI. Despite the team’s batting failure, Captain Mahmudullah himself took the first fifty of the tournament.
Mahmudullah XI lost the draw and chose to hit at the Sher-e-Bangla cricket stadium in Mirpur on Sunday (October 11). Naeem Sheikh and Liton Das, the two starters, got off to a good start. However, after scoring 18 runs in 3 overs, the game was stopped due to rain.
When the rain stopped and the game started again, Naeem Sheikh ran out of 6 runs and came back. After that, Taskin Ahmed picked up the Liton wicket for 21 runs. When Muminul Haque was sacked for zero by Al-Amin Hossain, Mahmudullah XI lost three wickets for 21 runs.
Captain Mahmudullah Riyad and Imrul Kayes handled the opening pressure in the fourth wicket partnership. They did a couple of fifty races. When Imrul returned to the pavilion with Naeem Hasan’s 41 races, the pair of 63 races was broken.
After that, Nurul Hasan Sohan ran out of 146 runs. However, Captain Mahmudullah kept playing with one side. He collected the first fifty of the series. He scored 51 of 62 balls before being thrown by Mukidul Islam Mugdhar. Later, Sabbir Rahman, who scored 22 runs, also fell victim to the fascination.
Mahmudullah XI was all for 198 runs in 48.2 overs when no other hitter was seen to score a great run.
Taskin Ahmed, Al-Amin and Mugdha of Nazmul XI took two plots each, while Naeem Hasan and Soumya Sarkar took one each.
