Chandina Upazila de Comilla, a 10-year-old madrasa student, was raped by the founder and director of the same madrasa. Yusuf Sohag (40 years old).
Police arrested the teacher on Wednesday (October 14) at noon. The arrested Yusuf is the son of Sahidul Islam from Sultanpur village in Debidwar upazila. He is the Imam of the Comilla Pallividyut Samiti-1 Jame Mosque and the founder and Mohtamim of Darul Ihsan Tahfizul Qaumi Madrasa on Chandina Pallividyut Road.
The victim is a resident of the Bagur area of Debidwar upazila. Chandina police OC Shamsuddin Mohammad Elias said the case was registered overnight.
The student’s father said that in 2019, Chandina admitted his daughter to the madrasa on Pallividyut Road. On Tuesday (October 13) he learned that the teacher had run away with her daughter. Upon receiving the news, he rescued the girl along with the teacher with the help of the locals on Tuesday night.
The madrasa student said that Yusuf Hazur raped me a month ago while I was studying at the madrasa. If I want to tell my parents, show me fear. Then he raped me more than once.
The teacher is known to have been married four times so far. Although two wives have passed away, there are still two wives left. There are more reports of rape of children by establishing madrasas.
Debidwar OC Police said. Zahirul Anwar said that the home of the girl and the madrasa teacher was in the area of the Debidwar police station, but the incident took place in the area of the Chandina police station. The Chandina police will take legal action in this regard.
Chandina police, OC Shamsuddin Mohammad Elias, said the girl was at the police station along with the madrasa teacher. A case has been filed in this regard.
Debidwar Upazila Nirbahi (UN) officer Rakib Hasan said the issue is very sensitive. I have spoken to Chandina’s officer Upazila Nirbahi about the matter. I have advised submitting Master Yusuf to law and closing the madrasa.
