Madrasa superintendent Maulana Abdul Quader has been arrested for raping a student in Mirpur, Kushtia. Mirpur police raided the house on Monday night and arrested him.
Mirpur OC Abul Kalam Police Station confirmed the arrest.
Defendant Maulana Abdul Quader works as superintendent of Sirajul Ulum Maryam Nesa Madrasa in Swarupadaha Chawkpara, Poradaha area, Kushtia Mirpur upazila union.
According to the police, the victim was a resident of the madrasa. He stays in that madrasa 6 days a week. Every Friday morning his father takes him home, again on Saturday to the madrasa. The girl’s father took her to the madrasa last Saturday morning. The next morning, during the Fajr prayers, the madrasa superintendent, Maulana Abdul Quader, called the girl to her room and raped her.
After the incident, the madrasa superintendent, Maulana Abdul Quader, threatened the girl not to tell anyone about the incident. However, the girl informed one of her classmates about the matter on Monday morning. When the classmate informed his father about the incident, he made himself known in the area. Later there was a great commotion in the area.
The agitated crowd and the madrasa students surrounded the madrasa and staged a demonstration demanding exemplary punishment for Abdul Quader. After learning about the matter, the girl’s father filed a written complaint against Abdul Quader at Mirpur Police Station.
Mirpur OC Abul Kalam Police Station said the victim was rescued based on a complaint from the girl’s father and sent to Kushtia General Hospital for medical testing. Madrasa Superintendent Maulana Abdul Quader was arrested in a raid Monday night following the allegations.
