It has been alleged that a 10-year-old madrasa student was raped while listening to Waz Mahfil. The incident took place in Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria. Police arrested another 15-year-old student from the same madrasa on charges of rape.
Police arrested the accused student from a madrasa in Kalikchh Chanpur of upazila at 11:30 pm on Sunday (February 21).
The detained student’s home is in Nasirnagar upazila. He is a student in the Ampara class of Sirajbagh Noorani and Hafezia Madrasa.
According to police and family sources, students from Sirajbagh Noorani and Hafezia Madrasa went to listen to the waz at the annual mahfil of the Baitul Jame mosque in nearby Kalikchh Border-Bazar on Sunday evening. At around 8:30 a.m., the accused madrasa student grabbed the 10-year-old student by the face and raped him on the roof of the mosque. That night, the student informed the madrasa teacher and his grandfather about the incident. After receiving the complaint, the police arrested the defendants from the madrasa.
Meanwhile, Arifuzzaman Himel, a doctor at the hospital’s emergency department, said the victim had received first aid. He was later admitted to the hospital for a medical examination. The student has been bleeding from the anus. For now, nothing can be said, the consultant from the surgery department can see the student and give him details.
The Officer-in-Charge (CO) of the Sarail Police Station, Al Mamun Muhammad Nazmul Ahmed, confirmed the incident and said that the police had arrested the accused student at the madrasa after receiving the news. The allegations will be investigated and legal action will be taken.
