The hanging body of a bride has been recovered in Phulpur upazila in the Mymensingh district. The body of the bride named Farzana Khatun (20) was found at her husband’s residence in the Puraputia village of Singheshwar Union of the Upazila on Sunday evening. The deceased was identified as Farzana, daughter of Fazlul Haque from the village of Rambhadrapur under the same upazila.

It is known that two months ago, Farzana married Mahmud Hasan (22), son of Osman Gani from the village of Puraputia in Singheshwar Union. According to local sources, the murdered bride had a long love affair with a young man from Nijgram. His family did not accept the matter. Marriage against one’s will is therefore suicide. Evidence of this can be found in the notes found with the body.

According to the Phulpur Police Station and the family of the deceased, she did not agree to go to her husband’s house after leaving her husband’s house after the marriage. He clarified the matter to family members. Later, family members arranged for her to be sent to her husband’s home. Unable to accept the family’s decision, Farzana closed the door yesterday afternoon and committed suicide by hanging himself with a handkerchief.

Upon receiving the news, the police recovered his body last night and sent him to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for an autopsy. His autopsy is scheduled to be completed on Monday.

Police recovered a handwritten note next to the body. Fulpur OC Imarat Hossain Gazi Police Station said the body would be released to relatives after an autopsy. In this regard, a case of unnatural death has been recorded.
