As a result of the implementation of the bus route franchise, external buses will not be able to enter the city of Dhaka, said the mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation. Atiqul Islam. He made the remarks while inspecting some of the proposed locations for Antzela bus terminals before the Bus Route Rationalization Committee on Wednesday (December 23).
Atiqul Islam, Mayor of North City Corporation, said: “City buses will circulate within the city and buses outside the city, ie Antzela buses, will stop at a certain location. With the implementation of the bus route franchise, buses from out of town will not be able to enter Dhaka. Because now Antzela buses compete with city buses. But this has completely disrupted our traffic system and is causing traffic jams. Therefore, the city bus has to enter the city and follow a certain route.
Atiqul Islam said: “We have decided in the last meeting that we have taken the initiative to bring everyone together in one company in Dhaka, where there are more than 180 buses and more than 29 owner-operated buses from Ghatarchar to Motijheel.”
He said that bus owners and workers were also cooperating in the implementation of the initiative. “Everyone wants to put order,” he said. So, to tidy up, the city bus will run along the city’s franchise route. In view of this, I am going to start the first (bus route franchise) on the Ghatarchar-Motijheel route from April 1.
Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation, ABM Amin Ullah Nuri, Executive Director of DSCC, Selim Reza, Executive Director of Dhaka North City Corporation, Khandaker Rakibur Rahman, Executive Director of Dhaka Khandaker Transportation Coordination Authority Rakibor Rahman, Etc. were present.
