The United Nations has lifted an arms embargo on Iran. The arms embargo was automatically lifted on Sunday. Iran’s Foreign Ministry has issued an official statement on the matter.
Starting Sunday, Iran will be able to buy and sell weapons and military equipment it needs from any country without any legal impediment, according to a statement.
He also said that today is a very important day for the world. This is because the international community has defended the Iran nuclear deal and UN Security Council resolution 2231 by thwarting US efforts.
Resolution 2231 makes it clear that an automatic and definitive arms embargo on Iran will be lifted on October 16, 2020 and that there is no need for the UN Security Council to make any announcement in this regard.
A statement from Iran’s Foreign Ministry called on the United States to refrain from attempting to take action against Iran, despite protests from the international community.
In accordance with Iran’s Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, which was signed in 2015 with six nations, including the United States, and approved by Security Council Resolution 2231, the UN arms embargo on Iran was lifted at 3 a.m. : 30 am local time on Sunday.
With this, the US attempt to exert so-called maximum pressure against Iran once again failed miserably. The United States has asked the United Nations to maintain sanctions on Iran. Different countries have also been pressured in this regard.
