The Dhaka Metropolitan Additional Chief Magistrate (ACMM), Asaduzzaman Noor, was fired due to protests by lawyers over the arrest of a colleague.

Iqbal Hossain, chairman of the Dhaka Bar Association, quoted the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) as saying the judge had been sent on leave after protests and tensions in Adalatpara since Wednesday morning.

An unexpected incident occurred on Tuesday, he said. Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor has disrespected a lawyer. The lawyer reported the matter in writing to the Dhaka Bar Association. We then discussed the matter with CMM Zulfiqar Haider. He told us that he (Asaduzzaman Noor) has been sent on a two-day leave for now.

The president of the Bar Association said the matter has been reported to the corresponding ministry. The ministry will decide whether to withdraw or transfer it.
The incident started on Tuesday. On the same day, a lawyer named Rubel Ahmed Bhuiyan protested the delay in taking the judge’s seat in court. As a result, Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor detained the lawyer for two hours.

He added that lawyers began protesting Wednesday morning in protest of the incident. They marched in a procession of several judges, including the additional chief metropolitan magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor, and chanted slogans demanding justice. At that moment, the atmosphere in Adalatpara heated up and the trial closed. The lawyers closed the courtroom of the judge. The old metropolitan chief magistrate also closed the folding door of the court building. The lawyers’ protest lasted about three hours. The protesters then calmed down with the intervention of high-level lawyers.
