A legal notice has been sent on behalf of the Saralpur band demanding the cancellation of the copyright registration certificate for the song ‘Yubati Radhe’ (Sarvat Mangal Radhe). Supreme Court attorney Miyaji Alamgir Alam Chowdhury on Monday sent the notice to six people, including the Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Copyright Registrar, vocalist Tariqul Islam Tapan, founder of Saralpur Band, by mail of interest public.

If no action is taken within the next 15 days, the necessary action, including a court case, will be taken in the higher court, he said.

The legal notice mentions that the word choice of the song ‘Yubati Radhe’ by the Saralpur band is almost identical to that of Dwij Kanai’s Mahua Pala, Banglar Lok Sahitya by Ashutosh Bhattacharya (Vol. The notice states that the popular songs are some of the music in the public domain under copyright law.

Defender Miaji Alamgir Alam Chowdhury said it is not his original song, it is a traditional folk song. Since time immemorial it has become part of the culture of Bengal.

He said that Saralpur Band copied this song on June 4, 2016 and uploaded it to YouTube. But according to copyright law, the musical work must be original or invented.
