On social media, Instagram, a group of class 11 and 12 students from different schools and colleges opened a group called ‘Boys Locker Room’ and discussed the gang rape of their classmates. Apart from this, several obscene conversations were taking place.
A student shared a screenshot of that discussion on another social networking site, Twitter. The storm of criticism breaks out in the Indian capital, Delhi.
Discussions, criticisms and convictions continue on other social media platforms as well. Delhi police have filed a case in this regard. Furthermore, the Delhi Cyber Crime Division has also delivered a letter to the Facebook-occupied Instagram authorities.
The Boys Locker Room group has been accused not only of planning a gang rape, but also of posting distorted images of girls. Another student in South Delhi said that one of his girlfriends had received death threats.
The chairman of the Delhi Women’s Commission, Swati Maliwal, demanded the arrest of the people involved in the group. “The Delhi Women’s Commission sent letters to Instagram and the Delhi Police,” she told Indian media. Children must be arrested and strict measures must be taken against them.
