He was called to the police station on Wednesday (December 9) in the morning and arrested at noon. Confirming the matter, Jhalokati Sadar OC Police Station (Operations) Saiful Islam said he had been arrested in a case under the ICT Law.
Sheikh Mohammad Rabbi, deputy general secretary of the BCL district, was arrested in the case on the night of December 6. He has been in preventive detention for two days.
According to the police, Sheikh Mohammad Rabbi, BCL district deputy general secretary, made offensive and obscene comments about Jhalakati-2 MP Amir Hossain Amu and his daughter on December 5 on his Facebook ID and his messenger. In this case, the general secretary of the District Bar Association. S. M Mostafizur Rahman Manu filed a case under the Digital Security Act charging the rabbi at the Jhalokati police station on the night of December 6. Police arrested the rabbi after the case was recorded.
The leader of the Awami League, Ruhul Amin Rizvi, was accused of spreading the Messenger screenshot on Facebook. Police called him at the police station Wednesday morning and found him as the defendant in the case. He was sent to jail through court at 3pm.
