The president of Gaibandha Sadar Upazila Laxmipur Union Parishad, Mostafizur Rahman Badal, has been arrested again in a rape case. Police arrested him from Lengabazar in the union on Tuesday night (November 24).
A case has been brought against him for raping a woman in the past six months for fear of a video of the rape leaking that night.
The arrested Mostafizur Rahman Badal is a resident of the Mouza Malibari union village and also works as the acting principal of Lengabazar Girls High School.
Previously, President Badal was arrested by the police on June 3, 2016 on charges of attempting to rape a ninth-grade student from his own school. He was granted provisional bail after spending several months in jail in that case.
Gaibandha Sadar OC Mahfuzur Rahman Police Station said the raped woman went to Laxmipur Union Parishad on March 3 this year to obtain her citizenship certificate. At that time, President Badal took her to her room, raped her, and recorded the video. Badal then raped the woman for the past 6 months for fear of leaking the video.
It added that on November 11, when the woman’s husband was staying home, President Badal went to her house and raped her. At that moment, when the neighbors became aware of the matter, President Badal quickly fled from there.
The Gaibandha Sadar OC Police Station (Investigation) Mojibur Rahman said the charge sheet for the case of attempted rape of a schoolgirl on June 3, 2016 has been presented to the court. The case is now pending.
