Earlier on Sunday, the High Court ruled that it was legal for attorney Jumman Siddiqui, the son of a judge who failed the bar exam, to publish the Bangladesh Bar Council newsletter directly as a High Court attorney. Lawyer Syed Sayedul Haque Sumon and lawyer Ishrat Hasan were also fined Tk 100 each.
Meanwhile, at one stage of the court case hearing, the court also issued a contempt judgment against lawyer Syed Sayedul Haque Sumon and lawyer Ishrat Hasan.
Regarding contempt of court, Barrister Sumon said: “The court has issued a contempt rule because it had published about the son of a Superior Court judge a long time ago.”
Advocate Ishrat Hasan said: “I have written some verses from the poet Sukumar Roy’s poem ‘Justice’ on Facebook.” The court thought it was contempt and issued a rule.
