Dhaka: The body of BNP standing committee member and former Minister Barrister Moudud Ahmed has arrived in Dhaka. His body arrived at Dhaka Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on a Bangladesh Biman flight at around 6pm on Thursday (March 18).
Hasna Jasim Uddin Moudud, Moudud Ahmed’s wife, came from Singapore with the body.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir received Moudud Ahmed’s body at the airport.
At that time he was with the member of the permanent committee of the party. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Nazrul Islam Khan, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, Vice President. Shahjahan, Barkat Ullah Bulu, Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, Advisor to President Aman Ullah Aman, Zainul Abdin Faruk, Deputy General Secretary, Attorney Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Advertising Secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, Executive Committee Members Nazim Uddin Alam, Abdul Latif Johnny, Tabitha Awal, Ishraq Hossain, President Press Wing member Shairul Kabir Khan and other party and worker leaders were present.
The body will be transferred directly from the airport to Moudud Ahmed’s home in Gulshan and from there it will be kept in the cold room at Ever Care Hospital overnight.
The body will be buried next Friday (March 19) from 9 am to 9:45 am at the Shaheed Minar Central Facility. People from all walks of life will pay their last respects to this renowned politician. The first janaza will be held at the premises of the Supreme Court at 10 in the morning. From there it will be taken in front of the party office of Naya Paltan. On behalf of the party, the general secretary of the party, senior leaders and leaders and workers at all levels will pay their respects to his coffin. Janaza will be held there at 11 in the morning. Later, the body will be brought to Noakhali. Funeral prayers will be held on the grounds of Kabirhat Degree College in Noakhali at 2.30pm. Funeral prayers will be held at Basurhat Companyganj Government Mujib College Ground at 4pm. Subsequently, the funeral will take place at 5:30 pm in front of the deceased’s own residence (Manikpur Companyganj).
The veteran BNP leader died at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore on March 18 at 6:30 pm Bangladesh time. He was 61 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife and a daughter.
He was taken to Singapore on February 1 for treatment. Previously, he was treated at the Ever Care Hospital in the capital for about two months.
