Barguna: Members of the Coast Guard seized 21 weapons and 10 knives from a motorized trawler in the Laldia Char area at the mouth of the Bishkhali River and the Baleshwar River adjacent to Patharghata Upazila in Barguna. However, they couldn’t stop anyone.
This information was confirmed to banglanews on Tuesday morning (October 13) by Lieutenant Mehdi Hasan, commander of the Patharghata Station of the South Coast Guard area.
It said a trawler was raided in the Laldiar Char area of the estuary at midnight on Monday (October 13) based on secret information. During the operation, seven domestic pistols, 14 single-barreled guns (pipe guns) and 10 knives were seized from the fish cabin on the trawler. However, no one could be detained as the trawler’s people fled after realizing the incident.
The thieves are believed to have planned to commit a robbery. The seized trawlers and weapons will be handed over to the corresponding police station, he said.
