A letter sent to field administration officials on December 31 warned those concerned.
The letter said that the national flag is a symbol of the independence, sovereignty and dignity of Bangladesh. It is the responsibility and duty of every citizen to defend their dignity. The 1972 Bangladesh Flag Standards contain the standards for the national flag, the observance of which is mandatory.
The Cabinet Division has recalled the provisions of the Flag Rules regarding the official raising of the flag on different days.
Provision:
In cases where the flag is officially raised, the national anthem should be sung at the same time. When the national anthem is played and the national flag is displayed, everyone present will stand in front of the flag. Uniforms will be saluted. If the flag is not displayed, everyone present will face the musical instruments, and the uniformed will salute the national anthem from start to finish.
The Cabinet Division says that it has recently been noticed that while raising the flag on national days at the district level, some uniformed people from the district are raising the flag with the deputy commissioner without due respect for the national flag under the rules, which It is illegal.
“In this situation, all concerned have been advised to strictly follow the provisions of the 1982 Flag Rules, when the national flag is officially hoisted.”
The letter asked interested parties to correctly follow the flag rules in the future.
The letter has been sent to all divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners (DC) and officers of Upazila Nirbahi (UNO) in addition to the chief secretary of the prime minister, the department of public security, the department of local government and the top secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the secretary of the Ministry of Defense and the secretary of the Department of Security Services.
