More than 50 in all editions, Test, ODI or T20. Turning the pages of a record book, Virat Kohli is one of the biggest cricket commercials of the last decade. So when the ICC is going to host an award of the decade, it’s only natural that it’s there.
There wasn’t much play in 2020 due to the coronavirus. So there is no possibility of selecting the best player of the year. However, this time the type of award has changed to the highest governing body of cricket. On this occasion, the award for the best player of the decade will be awarded. The ICC published today (Wednesday) the list of selected cricketers, taking into account the matches played from January 2011 to October 2020.
Kohli is in all five categories of men in published nominations. The Indian captain has been nominated in the Spirit of the Cricket as well as in Tests, ODIs and T20s alongside the best players of the decade.
This year’s award has the opportunity to vote for cricket fans. In the best selection, fans will get 10 percent of the vote and the remaining 90 percent will come from the expert panel formed by the ICC. Fans will be able to vote on the ICC website (icc-cricket.com/awards) from today (November 25) through December 16.
