A younger brother has made a confessional statement in court killing his older brother for only one hundred rupees. After the murder, the older brother’s body was left inside the restaurant and the younger brother bathed at home. Even the older brother did not return home at night and went looking for him with his father. Such a brutal murder took place in Mugda in the capital.
The deceased was identified as Jiban Ghosh, 29, and his younger brother Rajib Ghosh, 24. The murder took place on May 8 inside a store called ‘Jeevan Food Fantasy’ at 93 / A North Mugda in the capital. .
After the murder, the victim’s father, Narayan Ghosh, presented a murder case against unidentified people at the Mugda Police Station. He complained in the case: “On January 10, I rented the ground floor of a house in northern Mugda and opened a store called ‘Jeevan Food Fantasy’ on behalf of my oldest son.” Where iftar items are sold. I would go to the store once in a while. My two children, Jiban Ghosh and Rajib Ghosh, used to run the store regularly. During Ramadan, two brothers sell Iftar items, settle accounts, and close the store around 7/8 pm. Like every day, on May 7, my youngest son Rajiv Ghosh went to the store at 11 in the morning to make iftar. Around half past one that day, my oldest son, Jibon, had lunch and took rice from his home for his younger brother. Around 6pm, my stepson Mithun Ghosh went to the store with TK 15,000 from his house to pay the rent and the electricity bill. He gave the money to Jiban Ghosh and went to his friend Ratan’s house with Iftar. After the sale of Iftar by Jibon and Rajib, the younger brother Rajib went home. After his mother opened the door, Rajiv hurried to the bathroom. When Rajiv came out of the bathroom, I asked him: “Where is life?” Then he informed me: “Life has come out with a padlock on the back door of the store, has seen the door closed.” There is a separate door to exit from behind the store. Since we don’t have money on my mobile, I got the tenant number for the next house around 8.45 pm when I called Jeevan’s mobile. I think maybe the charging of the mobile is finished, so the mobile is turned off. Or life has turned off the phone. It was raining a lot outside, maybe he was trapped, unable to go home. Around 9 pm, my youngest son Rajiv and I left the house to search for life with the duplicate keys to the store. Rajiv opened the shutters of the store, turned on the lights and shouted: “There is no father or brother.” At the time it was a bit far from the store. Hearing the boy’s scream, I hurried to the store. When I entered the store, I saw the body of life lying on the floor of the store. Blood everywhere. The towel that he wipes his hands in the store is wrapped around the neck of life, a deep wound on the back of his head. Bleeding from that wound. When I started screaming, people gathered around me. After receiving the news, Mugda police arrived.
Police collected images from all CCTV cameras in the murder area. Also check out mobile tracking and images. Many family members, including Rajiv and Mithun, the deceased’s younger brothers, were questioned.
The Mugda Police Inspector (Operation) said. Masudur Rahman said they reviewed CCTV footage of the building facing the scene to identify the killer. The review shows that the movement of Rajiv’s younger brother, Rajib, at the time was suspicious. He left the store and threw bricks. He didn’t seem ready. His behavior was not normal. He even went home and said that his older brother had closed the store. But CCTV cameras showed Rajiv closing the store. After that, the police began the investigation suspecting a few more problems. Rajiv was arrested after the evidence matched.
SI case investigator Rahidul Islam said defendant Rajib Ghosh hit his older brother inside the store with a brick behind for only Rs 100, then hit him on the head more than once and then suffocated him by wrapping a towel around from his neck. After killing his brother, Jiban left Ghosh’s corpse inside the store. He closed the shop shutters and threw the bricks used in the street murder and the store key into the manhole and went home to bathe.
He added that the investigating officer of the case took several leads from the scene. According to Rajiv Ghosh, the bloodstained bricks and vest he was wearing at the time of the murder were confiscated from the bathroom of the house. Rashed Hasan, the chief assistant commissioner (AC) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Sabujbagh area, said he made a confessional statement in court on May 9 after arresting Rajib Rajib Ghosh on the night of May 8. He is currently in jail.
