A lawsuit has been filed against the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, in a US court. Hatis Genghis, the lover of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, has brought the case against him as the mastermind of the murder. The accusations also allege that Mohammed bin Salman harmed the human rights organization founded by Khashoggi and Hatis Genghis.

In 2016, journalist Khashoggi was assassinated inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey. The murder was ordered by the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, an accusation MBS has always denied.

Jamal Khashoggi is a critic of the Saudi Crown Prince, the Saudi government and Mohammed bin Salman. He had been living in exile in the United States for some time. There he wrote regularly for the Washington Post.

In a civil case filed in Washington DC on Tuesday, Hatis Cengiz, a Turkish national, filed a personal injury complaint and demanded compensation for financial losses caused by Khashoggi’s death.

The human rights organization Khashoggi Democracy for the Arab World Now (DON) has complained that its activities have been disrupted.
