The leader of the Juba League, Anisur Rahman, who was arrested for vandalizing the sculpture of the revolutionary Bagha Jatin in Kumarkhali, Kushtia, has been expelled from the party. Kumarkhali Juba League said this in a press release on Saturday (December 19).
According to the press release, Anisur Rahman Anich, president of the Kumarkhali Upazila Juba League, was temporarily expelled from the party for participating in anti-state activities as per the decision of the emergency meeting of the Kumarkhali Upazila Juba League.
Earlier, the leader of the Juba League, Anisur Rahman, was summoned to the police station for questioning about the vandalism of a statue of the revolutionary Bagha Jatin in Kumarkhali. Later, the police arrested Tak in the case. Kushtia (SP) Police Superintendent Tanvir Arafat said this at a press conference in his office on Saturday afternoon.
The one arrested is Anisur Rahman (35), president of Anisur Kaya Union Juba League in Kumarkhali upazila. The other two detainees together with him are Sabuj Hossain (20) and Hridoy Ahmed (20). Also, another young man named Bachchu (32) is being arrested.
SP Tanvir Arafat told a press conference that the Kaya University authorities already have a conflict with Anisur. As a result of this, he and his associates destroyed the sculpture of Bagha Jatin on the side of the road in front of the main gate of the university.
This sculpture has nothing to do with the vandalism incident. He has been vandalized for personal assault. However, the investigation will find out if there was a conspiracy to achieve a nefarious purpose through this incident.
Meanwhile, a three-member investigative committee headed by an additional district magistrate was formed to investigate the vandalism of the sculpture.
Bagha Jatin’s sculpture was vandalized in the Kaya village of Kumarkhali upazila on Thursday night. Harun Aur Rashid, principal of Kaya College, filed a case under the Special Powers Act on Friday afternoon.
