Journalist Borhan Uddin, shot dead in Companiganj

Borhan Uddin Muzakkir, 25, a journalist from Kompaniganj, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He died at 10:45 pm on Saturday (February 20) in the hospital ICU. Bachchu Mia, manager (inspector) of the DMCH police camp, confirmed the matter to the Bangla Tribune.

He was shot and killed in a clash between supporters of the mayor of Basurhat municipality, Abdul Quader Mirza, and the former president of upazila, Mizanur Rahman Badal, in Kompaniganj upazila of Noakhali.

Earlier on Friday (February 19), he was rescued around 1 a.m. and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He was admitted to the ICU of the hospital in critical condition.

At the time, the resident doctor of the hospital emergency department said. Alauddin said Muzakkir was shot in the neck. Her condition is critical and she is being treated in the DMCH intensive care unit.

It was learned that the injured journalist is a resident of the Charfakira Trade Union of Companiganj Upazila, Noakhali District. He is a Companyganj correspondent for the daily Bangladesh Samachar.
