Ritu Kundu, an assistant professor in the Department of Public Administration at Jagannath University (JU), has converted to Islam after 29 years of research on comparative theology.
He was initiated into this religion of peace about four years ago. However, the matter was not made public in that way.
The teacher recently uploaded a video on Facebook describing her long journey to Islam.
However, he did not say anything about changing his name after converting to Islam. Ritu Kundu is known to have changed her name to Adrita Jahan Ritu.
In the video message, the professor said: ‘In light of 29 years of study and knowledge of different religions, I started studying Islam for a month. In 18 days I realized the truth and I converted to Islam in March 2017. During these long 29 years I have been observing the behavior of my family, society and people. For a long time I have read books on all the other major religions. I also study this subject in Japan. In 2012 I learned that these are man-made books (not divine words).
He added: ‘After 29 long years, I read the Bengali translation of the Holy Quran. Besides, I also read Hadith. I have read the sura and hadith of the Quran carefully. I think of the reasons and prohibitions of God’s guidance. I have ever dreamed of this. That may seem incredible to many. Perhaps Allah made me accept Islam from a very young age. Every incident in life from childhood to today, education, obstacles and inconsistencies in society have gradually led me to the path of Islam. When I realized that I had to pray, my prayers had not been done for 14 consecutive months. After that, due to work, he became Qaya once or twice. I started wearing hijab from the day I felt like I had to wear a veil. ‘
The teacher said that she stood firm in her decision to convert to Islam despite opposition from family and friends.
“My family and friends forbid me to do that,” he said. But I tell you that I have come to love the Prophet (peace be upon him). I understand why you have given us such wonderful advice and guidance. I have surrendered to Allah since today. ‘
