A Japanese company claims to have developed an ultraviolet (UV) lamp capable of destroying coronaviruses without harming the human body.
According to a report published in the Jakarta Post on Tuesday, electric lamp maker Ushio has jointly developed the ‘Care 222’ lamp with Columbia University.
The company claims that in the places where more people gather, such as waiting rooms, airports, buses, trains, planes, the lights will be able to destroy the crown.
Ultraviolet rays work effectively to disinfect medical and food products. However, many suspect that the application of this beam can lead to cancer and eye damage in the human body.
Ushio claims that his lamp uses 222 nanometers of UV rays instead of the normal 254 nanometers. This beam will not cause any harm to the human body.
Furthermore, they claim that a research team from Hiroshima University has found evidence that lightning is effective in destroying coronaviruses.
The price of Care 222 lamps weighing one kg 200 grams has been set at three lakhs of Japanese yen, about two and a half lakhs of rupees in Bangladeshi currency.
