Students will move from the eighth to the ninth class on the basis of assessment, not “automatic promotion,” said the chairman of the Dhaka Board of Secondary and Upper Secondary Education, a teacher. Ziaul Haque.
The decision was made at a meeting of the Inter-Education Board subcommittee held at the Dhaka Board of Education on Thursday afternoon, said Professor Ziaul Haque.
When asked on the basis of the assessment, the chairman of the Dhaka Board of Secondary and Higher Education said: “The assessment will be conducted based on what has been taught in the classroom and later on Sangsad TV and on line until March 15 this year If possible, the teacher from your own institution will move students to the next class directly, if not online or based on a prior assessment.
Professor Ziaul Haque said that guidance will be issued for Board of Education teachers regarding evaluation.
A total of 2.5 million students were scheduled to take the JSC-JDC exams this year. But due to the coronavirus situation, the government canceled the two tests on August 28. Previously, the final exam for primary education and ibtedayi was also canceled.
Later on September 2, a circular signed by the Dhaka Board of Education Exam Controller, Professor SM Amirul Islam, read: Based on the assessment will be passed in the ninth class.
Today’s meeting decided how to evaluate the JSC-JDC candidates. The meeting was attended by the presidents of all boards of education. However, no decision was made at the meeting on the Upper Secondary Examination (HSC), said the chairman of the Dhaka Board of Secondary and Upper Secondary Education.
HSC and equivalent exams were to begin on April 1 of this year. But the government postponed it due to coronavirus. However, despite the Qawmi Madrasa reopening, other educational institutions have holidays until October 3.
