Ishraq Hossain, a member of BNP’s central executive committee, is the son of former Dhaka City Corporation mayor Sadek Hossain Khoka. He was the BNP’s South City candidate in the city’s last corporate election.
According to the details of the case, on September 1, 2007, the ACC had issued a notice to Ishraq Hossain and his dependents to declare their assets.
On September 4 of that year, the ACC agent went to Ishraq’s house with the notice from the Taleb Commission. But since Ishraq was not at home at the time, he approached the four (witnesses) present and hung the notice on the wall at the entrance on the ground floor of the house.
Shamsul Alam, the then ACC Deputy Director, filed a complaint with the Ramna Police Station on August 29, 2010 against Ishraq for failing to present his assets in the prescribed manner within the seven working days set by the ACC.
The investigating officer of the case, ACC Deputy Director Jahangir Hossain, filed a charge sheet against Ishraq Hossain in the Dhaka Satyabrata Sikder Metropolitan Magistrate Court on December 6, 2016.
The court then brought charges against Ishraq on January 15 this year. Six of the six witnesses in the case testified at different times.
The case reached a verdict on November 11 after the state and the defendants presented their arguments.
