Is China-India preparing for war in Ladakh?

Satellite images show China building new infrastructure along the disputed Ladakh border. Experts believe that these infrastructures are being built with winter in mind.

China and India have amassed 5,000 to 7,000 troops in the Pangong region of Ladakh alone. On both sides of the Line of Royal Control, both sides are prepared for final preparations for war. At present, there are more than 50,000 Indian soldiers on various Ladakh borders. The army says it has the same number of troops on the Chinese side. Meanwhile, the Indian army has established its domain on a hill at Finger Point Four in the northern part of Lake Pangong.

From where it is possible to see the movement of Chinese troops on the other side of Finger Point Four. A recently released satellite image shows that China has built a large number of new structures along the Royal Line of Control at the northern end of Pangong.

There have been no major clashes between Indian and Chinese forces in Ladakh in the past two days. However, army sources said that small clashes between the two sides take place almost every day. Shots are being fired into the air from both sides of the border. However, no casualties were reported. In fact, both sides are in the final stages of preparing for war.

A senior Indian military official said that China had stored at least 150 fighter jets in close proximity to LAC. This includes fighters, helicopters, electronic alert elements. There are also tankers and surface-to-air missiles.

The Indian army claims that it has the same number of planes and weapons on the Ladakh border. A large number of fighter jets have been kept at Leh airport. Helicopters patrol the border every day from Leh.

A former Indian Air Force official told Deutsche Welle that a Leh fighter would take just eight minutes to reach the Chinese border. The fighter could return to Leh airport in 18 minutes. India also now has five Rafale fighter jets. Which will be officially handed over to the Air Force on Thursday.

The French minister also attended the event. A rehearsal of what Rafal can do will be shown at Ambala airport. Several more draws will arrive in India in a few days.

Ladakh’s local administration says there is still intense tension on the border. Great things are likely to happen at any moment. The situation is very worrying, especially in the southern part of Pangong. The armies of China and India are face to face. Meanwhile, the Indian army has reached a new height at Finger Point Four in the far north of Pangong. From there, Chinese military activity can be seen across the Royal Line of Control.

A satellite image from September also reached the hands of the Indian army. This shows that the Chinese army has built a large number of structures along the Line of Control along the Pangong.

Not only in Ladakh, but also in Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh, the Indian army has issued red alerts at the border. A red alert was also issued on the border between Nepal, India and China in Uttarakhand.

What war is coming

India and China face off in Ladakh from May to September. Doklam did not have such a tense situation for so long. As a result, the question is repeatedly raised in different quarters, what will the war be? According to experts, no country wants to go directly to war. As a result, repeated attempts at negotiation are being made. But so far there have been no fruitful talks.

In the meantime, there is the possibility of a high-level army meeting. However, it is quite clear that no country will abandon its place and withdraw. India’s claim that China has stockpiled fighter jets and missiles very close to the Royal Line of Control is unacceptable. If they withdraw their weapons, the situation is expected to improve temporarily. However, there are enough questions about whether any country will agree to back the war team.

Utpal Bhattacharya, a former lieutenant general in the Indian Army, said that when winter comes, it becomes extremely difficult to transport supplies to remote areas like Ladakh. It is difficult to transport so much food and weapons from the army. As a result, the army has already stored and maintained everything.

From the words of Utpal Bhattacharya it is clear why the two countries have stockpiled so many arms and armies at the border. Why the number of structures increases every day. Both sides are preparing for winter. And in a few weeks, the intensity of winter will start to increase in Ladakh. The snow will start to fall. If you are not prepared in advance, army personnel will get into trouble. As a result, in this situation, neither party will agree to withdraw the war equipment. DW.
