Dhaka Metropolitan City (DMP) Detective Division (DB) Ramna Division arrested AB Siddique Dipu, 45, personal assistant to Irfan Selim, 30th District Councilor of Dhaka South City Corporation, in a case of hitting a naval officer.

Division Deputy Commissioner DB Ramna (DC) Azimul Haque said the second defendant in the case was arrested around 3:30 pm Monday.

Previously, the RAB raided the home of Haji Selim’s son and Dhaka South City Corporation Councilor Irfan Selim from 12 noon on Monday. The raids were carried out on each floor of the eight-story building. RAB recovered some illegal items from Irfan’s home. Among them were a firearm, five or six liters of alcohol, and 400 pieces of yaba. There are several cans of beer available.

Irfan Selim was sentenced to one year in prison by RAB Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam for possession and use of drugs and illegal walkie-talkies in an immediate mobile court. Irfan’s bodyguard said at the time. Jahidul was also sentenced to one year in prison for Islam.

On the night of October 25, in Dhanmondi, Wasif Ahmed Khan, a naval officer, was beaten after exiting a government vehicle with Haji Selim’s “Member of Parliament”. Although GD was involved in the incident at night, Wasif Ahmed Khan filed a lawsuit against seven people, including Haji Selim’s son, on the morning of October 26. The case was brought on charges of beating and attempted murder. The defendants are Irfan Selim, AB Siddique Dipu, Zahid, Mizanur Rahman and two or three others.
