The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) aerospace force demonstrated two RAAD-500 missile launchers on Saturday. This launcher can carry two missiles at the same time. It has been on display at the ongoing weapons exhibition in Tehran on the occasion of Defense Week.
The launcher, called the RAD-500, is one of Iran’s most important missiles. The IRGC launched the solid-fuel missile in February this year. This missile has a compound engine called ‘Zuhair’.
The compound engine uses carbon fiber that can withstand heat of up to three thousand degrees Celsius. As a result of making an engine from this material, its weight is very low and the weight of the missile made from this engine will also be comparatively much less.
Earlier, Iran’s defense source said in a comparative image that the Naya Ra’ad-500 missile weighs half as much as Iran’s Fateh-110 missile, but has a range of 200 km.
