Abdul Hakim, president of the Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB), said this after a discussion with the minister on Saturday night.

He told reporters that a meeting on the issue would be held at 10:30 am Sunday at the Dhaka South City Corporation office.

“If there is no solution in that meeting tomorrow, we will strike again as of next Saturday.”

The Bangladesh Internet Service Providers Association and the Bangladesh Cable Operators Association (COAB) have announced the shutdown of Internet and cable television services across the country from 10 am to 1 pm every day starting Sunday, unless the removal of the hanging of the two capital city corporations is stopped without alternative arrangements. .

Banking sector officials expressed concern over his announcement. They warned that if the Internet is off, it will not be possible to carry out financial transactions in banks and mobiles.

Meanwhile, due to the coronavirus epidemic, several school authorities have decided to take classes at night instead of in the morning.

Faced with this situation, the Minister of Telecommunications, Mustafa Jabbar, and the Minister of State for Information Technology and Communications, Junaid Ahmed Palak, took the initiative to address the issue on Saturday afternoon.

After the discussions between the two parties, the virtual press conference arrived.

ISPAB President Abdul Hakim said: “The Honorable Minister (Mustafa Jabbar) has assured us that he will discuss our crisis with the Honorable Prime Minister.

“Now we will wait two, three or four days for that meeting. Hopefully, we will get a fruitful solution within this week.”

After his speech, Minister Mustafa Jabbar said: “I have said that we will make a decision as soon as possible under the leadership of the Honorable Prime Minister.” I cannot say now when he will sit in the meeting with us. “
