As a result, the company is in a deep crisis after all the transactions for the purchase and sale of goods in the company have been carried out through banking channels and payment gateways. However, Evali quickly found another solution for themselves, ‘Cash on Delivery’ or COD. However, buyers and sellers demanded that the company return to its normal activities by quickly solving the Evali problem. And industry stakeholders say the sooner the dispute is resolved, the better for domestic e-commerce, ICT, and domestic and foreign investment.

Syed Almas Kabir, president of the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) and director of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI), one of the leading business organizations, told banglanews that any crime in Evali must be investigated immediately. However, it did not seem appropriate to seize their bank accounts for this. As a result, a kind of “negative virus” spreads in this sector. But the national e-commerce sector is now in its infancy. In this situation, if negative words spread more, domestic and foreign investors will hesitate. Suddenly, the bank account will be confiscated or even if it is confiscated, it will be caught in procrastination. If such a message reaches them, it is damaging to the entire industry. Even more alarming right now is the fact that there are many sellers on Evali, meaning the merchant’s payment is blocked. Many clients have money. There is also the question of the salaries and benefits of Evali’s own staff. We are looking at what is happening in the labor or economic market right now in Corona. Such movement in him is really alarming. We will appeal to the government to resolve the matter quickly.

Regarding Evali’s business module, Almas Kabir said, “It’s okay if Evali doesn’t do something very ‘aggressive’.” We have seen an ‘antitrust’ lawsuit against Microsoft in the United States. Anything like that, but Evali doesn’t do it anymore. Yes, it is true, he can now be known as the Lord of the Rings. But this type of business, this type of game, has been done by many. But so did Amazon. Still, some questions remain. We need to see if your business model is truly sustainable.

Asif Ahnaf, director of E-Cab, an association of e-commerce merchants, wants a quick solution to the problem, noting that the Evali debate could complicate the national e-commerce sector. He said a seven-member committee made up of e-taxis at Evali has been working since Monday. We will present a report to the interested authorities based on the committee’s observation. However, we would say that it is not advisable to seize the bank account of a going concern like Evali in a hurry. There are many salespeople and entrepreneurs with him. We have to think about them too. We want the problem to be resolved quickly.

Meanwhile, merchants are also re-committing to Evali’s cash on delivery method, said Mohammad Russell, the company’s managing director and chief executive officer. He told banglanews: “Since last Saturday (August 29) we have launched the cash on delivery service.” As a result, both buyers and sellers are benefiting. The buyer pays for the product and the seller pays for it. In these two days we observe the cash on delivery model. So far I have gotten quite a positive response from both the seller and the customer. There are currently a total of 1,503 live stores. Of these, 60 are regular stores, 620 are express stores and 230 are food stores. In addition, there are 125 stores in Friends Deal. I expect the number of sellers to reach five thousand next week.
