Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed domestic airports to provide adequate lighting to allow night flights.
The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved four projects on Tuesday (October 20).
ECNEC Prime Minister and President Sheikh Hasina chaired the ECNEC meeting from Ganobhaban. Concerned ministers and secretaries were present at the meeting in the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar NEC conference room.
After the ECNEC meeting, Asadul Islam, Senior Secretary of the Planning Department, briefed the media on the general problems of the project.
Asadul Islam said the directive was issued in view of the increase in the number of flights on domestic routes. At the ECNEC meeting, Mahibul Haque, chief secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, said that runways and lighting systems would be developed on national routes.
The chief secretary, Asadul Islam, said that the ECNEC meeting approved the project at a cost of Taka 57.08 crore to cover the asphalt concrete surface on the runways of Jessore, Syedpur and Shahmakhdum airports. The economic situation of the population improves day by day. The country is also becoming an economic zone. For these reasons, flights on domestic routes are increasing. That is why the Prime Minister has asked to increase the lighting at the airport. As if the flight could fluctuate even at night.
In addition, the project ‘Land Acquisition and Development for Solid Waste Management in Kadmarsul Area of Narayanganj City Corporation’ was approved at a cost of Taka 301 million rupees. Highlighting the prime minister’s directives on the project, Asadul Islam said that the prime minister has ordered that waste management be developed in such a way that the water is not polluted.
