Educational institutions are closed due to the Corona epidemic. At this time, the government has ordered schools and universities to charge only tuition fees for students, with the exception of parents facing financial losses. However, no fees can be charged for student assignment, tiffin, readmission, library, science library, magazine, and development. This was instructed by the Department of Secondary and Higher Education (Maushi) on Wednesday.
Director General of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education, Prof. A circular signed by Syed Mohammad Golam Farooq said that all educational institutions in the country have been closed since March 16 due to Kovid-19. However, in the meantime, most educational institutions have effectively organized online classes in addition to the classes broadcast by Sangsad Bangladesh Television, but some educational institutions have not been able to do so well. Similarly, most students were able to participate in these online classes, some students were unable to. However, in general, the initiative of our students, teachers, parents and educational institutions to adapt to this suddenly emerging situation and continue their training is without a doubt laudable. However, there is a difference of opinion between parents and some institutions regarding student tuition rates.
Some parents say the school was closed on one side and they suffered financial losses during the coronation. Therefore, it is not possible for them to pay tuition fees. Educational institutions, on the other hand, say they have done everything possible to keep students in school. Also, even if the institution is closed, teachers and staff have to spend a certain amount of money each month on salaries and school maintenance.
In this situation we have to think about the difficulties of parents, on the other hand, we have to take care that educational institutions do not become closed or ineffective or that the lives of teachers and employees do not enter into crisis due to non-payment of wages.
The notice further stated that, considering the above issues, private secondary educational institutions (enrolled in MPO and not MPO) under the Department of Secondary and Higher Education will charge tuition fees to students. But you will not be able to collect or charge any assignment, tiffin, readmission, library, scientific library, journal and development fee nor will you refund or adjust it with the tuition fee. Also, if any other fees are not paid, they will be refunded in the same way or adjusted with the tuition fee. However, if a parent is in extreme financial crisis, the authorities of the educational institution will take that student’s tuition into consideration. It should be noted here that all concerned should take care so that the educational life of any student is not interrupted for any reason.
The statement further said that if the situation is not normal in early 2021, then educational institutions will not charge student fees such as tiffin, readmission, library, science, magazine, development, which cannot be spent for students in that sector in particular. . However, if the situation is normal, all kinds of reasonable fees can be charged again as before.
