Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie has had her breasts and ovaries surgically removed to protect her from cancer. Inspired by her, Mausumi Roy from West Midnapore, India, who is at risk for cancer, also cut her breasts and ovaries.
According to Indian media reports, a rash appeared on Mausumi’s right chest at the end of last January. It quickly takes the form of a tumor. Normally, the fear of having breast cancer is in her. The fear of losing her mother to breast cancer at age 10 was too much.
“My mother died of breast cancer,” said Mausumi Roy. I was only 10 years old then. I was scared, but should I die of breast cancer too?
Mausumi went to the Apollo Hospital in Kolkata because of that fear. Surgeon Subhdeep Chakraborty operated on the tumor. However, the fears have no end. Cancer can also occur from cuts. Then, a test called a BRCA gene test is done to see if the breast cancer can come back in the near future. Angelina Jolie did the test.
