The recommendation was made at a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture held in Parliament House on Thursday, according to a press release issued by the Parliament’s Secretariat.
A committee member said, on condition of anonymity, that Matia Chowdhury, chairman of the committee, spoke about the poor quality of the ACI company’s combine. Their machines have mechanical failure within 15 days to a month. As a result, farmers have to suffer during the harvest and threshing of the rice.
Other committee members made similar accusations and also questioned the quality of ACI’s health care products.
After the meeting, committee member Hosne Ara told bdnews24.com: “The quality of ACI combines is very poor. Almost everyone has talked about this at the committee meeting. Their nuts are inferior. We have recommended to the ministry to take action against the company. “
Meanwhile, the committee has recommended revealing the cause of the potato and onion shortage.
It was reported at the meeting that there is a shortage of around 7-8 lakh tonnes of onion every year, even out of production in the country. Last year, India halted onion exports without warning. It is recommended that the Ministry take appropriate measures in coordination with the Ministry of Commerce to reduce that sudden onion crisis and reduce its dependence on India to 100%.
The meeting recommended to the Ministry to take the necessary steps for alternative research and planning to reduce the impact of India’s ban on onion and jute seed exports to Bangladesh.
The committee called on the ministry to take appropriate measures for the upcoming boron season and reach out to improved breed farmers to increase the aus season production and increase the arable area as much as possible.
Minister of Agriculture. Abdur Razzak, Muha. Imaj Uddin Pramanik, Md. Muslem Uddin, Md. Mamunur Rashid Kiran, Anwarul Abedin Khan, Umme Kulsum Smriti and Hosne Ara attended the meeting.
