India has deployed a warship in the South China Sea after clashes between Chinese and Indian forces in Ladakh. China has opposed the Delhi move during talks between the two countries.
According to a Times of India report, Chinese forces have opposed the presence of Indian warships since 2009 through artificial islands and military presence.
A military source told ANI that an Indian Navy warship was deployed in the South China Sea after 20 soldiers were killed in clashes with China in Ladakh.
The army of the Popular Liberation Army (PLO) in the area has been demanding most of the waters as part of its territory and has objected to the presence of any force.
Chinese naval and security personnel have opposed the deployment of Indian warships in the South China Sea. They say the presence of such warships is controversial in ongoing diplomatic talks between the two countries.
American warships and destroyers are already present in the South China Sea. The sources said that the Indian forces have been in regular contact with the American warships.
China has been claiming a large chunk of the South China Sea for decades.
