Indian Defense Minister (CDS) Bipin Rawat blamed China for causing tensions along the Line of Control (LoC) in Ladakh and said China must return to normal. He did not rule out the possibility of a major confrontation and said that India would not accept any changes in LAC.
Bipin Rawat gave this warning at a discussion meeting organized by the National Defense College on Friday. He said that after analyzing all aspects, the possibility of a full-scale war with China is low. But border violations, positional shifts along the Royal Line of Control, unwarranted unprovoked military harassment can lead to major conflicts. That possibility cannot be ruled out.
As Bipin Rawat speaks, the eighth round of India-China military-level talks has begun to normalize the border situation. Lieutenant General PGK Menon led the Indian delegation to the talks at Chusul-Moldo on Indian territory along the Royal Line of Control. Despite previous seven-point talks, the position of the two countries along the Line of Royal Control remains unchanged. China is still reluctant to return to its previous position last June. India is also reluctant to give up its position in the southern part of Lake Pangong. Indeed, Rawat seems to have reminded China once again during the meeting how tough India’s position is.
