India and the United States have further strengthened bilateral ties to counter China’s “aggression.” The two countries signed the Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement (BECA) at the annual meeting of the Foreign and Defense Ministers of India and the United States in the 2 + 2 dialogue at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Tuesday.
This has led to the exchange of high-level military technology, accurate information on space and air operations, and confidential satellite data between India and the United States. Through this, India has signed the four framework agreements with the United States on military and defense cooperation.
Previously, India had signed the General Military Information Security Agreement (GISOMIA), the Logistics Support Agreement (LSA), and the Communications Interacbility and Security Memorandum of Agreement (SISMOA) with the United States. All three agreements, including Beka, are considered a framework agreement to strengthen military ties with any country in the United States. These are the Agreement for Technical Cooperation in Earth Sciences, the Agreement for the Expansion of Nuclear Cooperation, the Agreement for Postal Services, and the Agreement for Cooperation in Ayurveda and Cancer Research.
