India Offers to Help Transform DSCC into a Smart City

India’s High Commissioner in Bangladesh, Vikram Kumar Doraiswamy, has offered to help transform Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) into a smart city.

The proposal was made by the Indian High Commissioner on a courtesy visit to the Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation, attorney Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, on Tuesday morning.

In the wake of the Indian High Commissioner’s proposal for a smart city, attorney mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh requested a written proposal at that time. In response, the Indian High Commissioner said that the proposal would be sent as soon as possible.

The Indian High Commissioner congratulated Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, Mayor of the Corporation, for leading the meeting by making visible changes to basic service activities, including mosquito control and waste management.

Calling for the cooperation of the Indian High Commissioner for the participation of Indian athletes in the organization of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Dhaka Marathon 2021, DSCC Mayor Taposh said: “We are going to organize the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Dhaka Marathon 2021 on the occasion the centenary of the birth and the golden jubilee of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman “. I look forward to your sincere cooperation for the visible participation of Indian athletes in that event. In response, the High Commissioner of India, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib, assured all possible cooperation to make the Dhaka Marathon 2021 a success.

The mayor of DSCC further said that the proposal on waste management under the Indian Credit Line has already been sent to the ministry. Hopefully this work will speed up soon.

When the effects of the epidemic crown subsided, the DSCC invited the mayor, Barrister Sheikh Taposh, to visit India and offered to exchange experiences by witnessing various corporate areas of the city, including the Kolkata Municipal Corporation. DSCC Mayor Barrister Tapas responded positively to the Indian High Commissioner’s proposal, saying that he would visit India at a time of mutual convenience once Corona’s influence had ended. The mayor of DSCC also agreed to witness the management of the Indian City Corporation.

The meeting was also attended by the Indian High Commissioner on Secure Digital Banking, Traffic Management Modernization to Reduce Traffic Congestion, Substitution of LED Bulbs for CFL Bulbs and Technology Solutions to Increase Collection and Revenue Collection, a trade fair of the legal book with lawyers from both countries and judges from Bangladesh and India. He also offered to cooperate with the High Court and Supreme Court of Bangladesh by sharing experiences.

During the meeting, the Indian High Commissioner will stay in Bangladesh for a few days and ensured the cooperation of DSCC Mayor, lawyer Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, in the development of the Dhaka town.

Describing the privilege of serving in Bangladesh on the occasion of the Mujib Year and the Golden Jubilee of Independence, the High Commissioner of India said that his father participated in the Great War of Liberation of Bangladesh as a member of the Air Force of the India during the 1971 War of Liberation.
