The Indian Army has given 20 trained horses and 10 dogs as gifts to the Bangladesh Army. The horses and dogs were officially handed over to the Bangladesh Army at the Benapole checkpoint in Jessore on Tuesday.

Major General Mohammad Humayun Kabir and Major General NS Noyendev Singh from the Indian Army were present on behalf of the army in Bangladesh.

The trained horses will be used as Army Honor Guard and the dogs will be used to identify drugs and criminals.

Lieutenant-Colonel Selim Reza, commander of the 49th BGB battalion, said the horses and dogs were brought for the first time from the Meerut Cantonment in India to the Chasara Cantonment in Kolkata. Later, around 11:30 am, the Benapole checkpoint was brought from the Petrapole BSF camp to the BGB camp. The horses and kitchens were handed over to the Bangladesh Army after the formalities were completed. The horses and dogs from the second shipment arrived in Bangladesh today.

Previously, on December 6, 2019, India gave away 10 trained dogs. Later, the horses and dogs left for the Dhaka cantonment in an army truck.
