The Pakistan Cricket Board will bring international cricket back to the country with a series against Zimbabwe in the post-Crown period. However, their head coach, Lalchand Rajput, was unable to go to Pakistan with the Zimbabwe team. The Indian embassy has requested Zimbabwe Cricket to release the former Indian cricketer from the upcoming series.
The Zimbabwe Cricket Board confirmed the matter in a statement after arriving in Pakistan. In the absence of Rajputs, bowling coach Douglas Hondo will take over as Zimbabwe’s interim head coach for the series. However, Rajput obtained a visa from the Pakistani embassy. But it was not allowed to do so as the Indian embassy prohibited its citizens from visiting Pakistan.
The Indian media ‘India Times’ has claimed that the Rajput did not obtain a visa for diplomatic reasons. He was denied a visa due to hostile political relations between India and Pakistan, the media claimed. Zimbabwe will play three ODIs and a T20 on this year’s tour of Pakistan. The first match will be played in Rawalpindi on October 30 and the next two ODI will be played on November 1 and 3. The T20I will be three on November 6, 7 and 10, in Lahore.
