India delivered 16 mortars to Bangladesh

India has provided 16 mortars with a 120mm radius to the Bangladesh Army. India has said that it is part of the bilateral cooperation between the armies of the two countries.

Smita Panth, Deputy Secretary of the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in charge of Bangladesh and Myanmar, gave this information to the media, following a virtual meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday for the night. India delivered mortars to Bangladesh on the occasion of Bangladesh’s Victory Day on Wednesday.

In response to a question, the deputy secretary said that the issue of building ships in joint cooperation between the two countries was under consideration. Both countries are interested in this topic.

In a virtual briefing on the meeting between the two leaders, Smita Panth said that cargo traffic has started from Chilahati in Nilphamari, Bangladesh to Haldibari in West Bengal, India. The two countries are discussing when it will be possible to operate passenger trains on this line. He said that at a meeting between the two prime ministers, India had said that Bangladesh could use India’s seaports to export goods abroad.
