India approves the use of the Oxford-AstraZeneca corona ticker The vaccine could be administered in the country as of next Wednesday, the Reuters news agency reported.
“The Covina Covishield vaccine is being developed at the Serum Institute of India (SII) in India as a joint venture between the University of Oxford and the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca,” the report said. Previously, the UK allowed the vaccine to be administered on an urgent basis.
In a meeting on Friday, experts made the necessary recommendations for the emergency application of the Covishield vaccine from the University of Oxford. This expert committee from India has analyzed the details of the various stages of the vaccine, considering whether it is safe and effective.
According to the Indian outlet NDTV, the recommendation or authorization will be sent to the Controller General of Drugs of India (DCGI) for consideration. No drugs or vaccines can be used or administered in India without final approval from DCGI.
DCGI has decided to approve Kovishield. However, no interested official has publicly commented on the matter.
